Further Tales from the World Above

Tue Mar 25, 2008, 5:44 PM
For all we had seen and been through in our travels through the World Above, this came close to taking the cake. Close. At first I thought it was just another cliff, but when I reached the edge, the world simply stopped. its as if some hand of God had taken the edge of the world and torn it loose. Walking up cautiously, I peered over the edge. Other than a few unremarkable outcroppings, the cliff continued straight down, a broken wall of rock gradually swallowed up by a pale fog a few miles down. I thought I'd get some kind of vertigo, but strangely, the lack of a bottom made it seem like I would keep on fallign forever. Which I had no intention of doing, I thought, scrambling away.
Maugara stood a few paces back, her snout flicking back and fourth as she searched for an end to the tear in either direction.
"I don't understand," She siad, "The World has always been more or less continuous." She approached the edge and craned her neck downward.
In a world that seemed composed of oddities, I felt out of place labeling something as bizzare.
"Flying mountains and curving plains we have seen, but they all went somewhere." I wondered aloud. On an impulse, I picked up a rock nd tossed it over the side. It glided silently down, eventually being swallowed up by the distance. Mau cast a curious glance at me.
"Well, I guess theres no chance of the World simply continuing at a right angle." I stepped back again, a bit easier. Mau stayed at the edge, unfazed by the drop. She pointed her claws along the edge, in what they had agreed to be local North, judging by the setting sun. The waning light glistened off her crimson scales, and glinted off a low peak several miles way that seemed to have been neatly bisected by the rift.
"We should try the north." She said confidantly.
"That mountain should should not be able to stand under its own weight. If not answers, we should at leaset be able to find clues to teh nature of this place."
"We should begin in the morning," I said in agreement, "I would rather not travel this plane at night". Indeed, the sun had already sunk below where the horizon should have been.
Maugara nodded in agreement as she settleed down onto the grass. She smiled slowly as she watched the sun.
"It should be interesting for once, to see where the sun goes at night..."

Oh, and I wondered if we could add something to the backpack where I could hang the gun, because I don't want to have to hold it all the time. I was thinking like one of those broom holder thingies, but I couldn't find one at Walmart. :(

<--- Yes. This is indeed the button you use to reply.
So... Like Paul (if that's actually his name) said, maybe we should look at brass pipe fittings...
What are you doing this evening? I've got homework and a couple of errands, but if you have time to be dragged to ACE... *puppy eyes* Or tomorrow would work, too. I just really want to finish this thing! Basically, we need to attach the tanks somehow and drill holes to mount them, then cut and paint the board. After that, all that's left is to screw everything on.
